• Lanier Sailing Academy offers sailing classes, sunset or special event sails and sailboat rentals.
• Harbison State Forest in Columbia encompasses 2,177 acres of forestland and is only nine miles from downtown Columbia. The forest has 18 miles of trails designed for walking, jogging, hiking and bicycling. A canoe landing located near the Broad River provides access for kayaks and canoes as a put in or take out from the river too.
• Saluda Shoals Park offers horse trail rides, paved and unpaved trails for hiking and biking, a river observation deck, boat ramp/canoe/kayak launch, picnic shelters, guided canoe and kayak trips and rentals, a fly fishing clinic and more just for the guys!
• Crooked Creek Park offers a variety of programs for children and adults of all ages. Included in the activities are: woodcarving, belly dancing, pottery instruction, youth dance classes, Crooked Creek Art League, guitar lessons, adult art classes clubs/groups, computer classes, driver safety, hunter and boater education, Red Cross Certifications, aerobics, yoga, fitness 101, pilates, gymnastics, karate, and various youth league sports.
• Seven Oaks Park Seven Oaks Park is a full-service recreation complex offering fitness, athletics, and instructional and cultural arts programs to the Irmo community. Seven Oaks Park’s special events, recreation programs, and volunteer opportunities are designed for youth, adults, seniors and persons with special needs. This community center offers visitors the following amenities: 30,000 square-foot facility with full gymnasium, fitness area, dance studio, art studio, art gallery and meeting rooms, 9 Athletic Fields, 6 Tennis Courts, Paved Walking Trails, Picnic Shelters, Playgrounds and a Community Garden. Seven Oaks Park also offers a variety of programs for children and adults.
• Dreher Island State Park. There's so much you can do at this wonderful State park located on Lake Murray. Enjoy fishing several types of bass, take a leisurely boat ride or pack a picnic and enjoy the fresh air under one of the 13 shelters.
• Adventure Carolina offers classes and trips on the Congaree, Edisto, Saluda, Broad and Santee Rivers. Check their calendar for a full listing.
• Sesquicentennial State Park situated in the middle of the Sandhills region, features a beautiful 30-acre lake surrounded by trails and picnic areas.
• Lake Wateree State Recreation Area. Yet another great place to experience the outdoors!
• Congaree National Park Activities at Congaree National Park include hiking, primitive camping, bird watching, picnicking, canoeing & kayaking, Ranger guided interpretive walks and canoe tours, nature study, and environmental education programs.
• Columbia Riverfront Park & Historic Canal This 167-acre park features a jogging and walking trail, as well as picnic tables and benches. You can learn about the history of the Columbia canal while walking through one of the old pump houses at the park or enjoy running, bicycling, and fishing activities.
• SC Department of Natural Resources has a packed calendar. Also, you can find information on freshwater and saltwater fishing, locate fish attractor maps, purchase your license or renew your watercraft registration among other things. Check it out to see what's going on!
• The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation You guys might consider taking part in the numerous classes and recreational activities available at City of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation Community Centers. There’s something for all ages and abilities available at a neighborhood center near you. And if your interests range more toward unstructured recreation, your local parks will be filled with people enjoying the weather with their friends and families. We hope we will see you out there, too. This is one of the best times of the year to be outside, whether you are throwing the football, training for a marathon, bird watching or simply enjoying a park bench.
• Carolina Adventure World Carolina Adventure World is an adventure-seeker's dream come true! There are 100 miles of ATV and single track trails of varying degrees of difficulty from 'Green' nature trails meandering along babbling brooks, streams, waterfalls and even beside a beaver pond. You can rent ATVs, Dirt Bikes, Side-by-Sides, and golf carts or just bring your own bike! The Blue Sky Zip Line allows you to glide over forests, stream beds and off cliffs!
• Wagener Salley Mud Racing Complex. If you love a good mud run, take a little trip to Wagener, SC. Mud runs, mud bogs and rodeos are all events that take place here. Entering your truck costs only $30 and general admission to the runs/bogs is $10. Check out their site for additional information and their calendar of events.
• TriggerTyme Paintball With 82 acres of huge hardwood trees covered rolling hills and no boundaries or time limits, we play woodsball the way it is supposed to be played. If you like little baby fields that always play the same - this is the wrong place for you. But, if you like teamwork, flanking maneuvers, and sneaking through the swamps, and woods - welcome home!!!
• Ballbusters Paintball Currently we have six fields in operation, 3 are woods-ball fields, one is a woods/hyperball mix, one with woods, wall-ball bunkers and log forts scattered throughout the area and one is an X-ball field. We have completed 6 buildings in our hyperball/village area. We have a total of 89 acres available and are always open to suggestions from the players as to what they would like to see in our fields.
• Disc golf is played like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc or Frisbee! Several city parks in Columbia have courses already set up. Here are some places in Columbia where you can play disc golf: Earlewood Park 803.733.8444; Owens Field Disc Golf Course 803.343.8788; Crooked Creek Disc Golf Course 803.345.6181; Lake Murray Golf Center 803-466-3599, Woodward Park or join the Columbia Disc Golf Club.
• The Caddy Shak The Caddy Shak is a complete golf practice facility featuring putting greens, target greens, distance markers, and both practice mats & Bermuda grass tee areas. The Caddy Shak offers a sandtrap and chipping area as well.
• Columbia Olde Grey Rugby It is never too late to start playing rugby. Anybody with any experience level and athletic ability is wanted. Practice is on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS and begins promptly at 7 p.m. Be there at 6:45 p.m. Show up early with a pair of cleats and we'll get you started.
• Plex Indoor Sports offers a variety of leagues for adults including: inline hockey, flag football and soccer at the Sandhills center and ice hockey at the Irmo Center.
• Strictly Running hosts group runs on Wednesdays. Visit their web site for meeting times and places.

• Join other locals and members of the Carolina Cyclers as they take on bicycle rides from 10 miles to over 200 miles. You can join now and pick from their extensive calendar of rides, attend their non-riding events and receive their monthly newsletter. Overnight and weekend events are also offered for the serious riders.
